Magic Leap for the first time showed its glasses augmented reality

In recent years, more and more companies are beginning to be interested in augmented reality. But one of the most promising is the startup Magic Leap, work on it for the past few years was conducted in an atmosphere of utmost secrecy. In this case, quite large investors like Google, Alibaba and some others have already invested about $ 2 billion in the project. And now the developers for the first time showed the hotly anticipated glasses of augmented reality.

The system itself consists of three parts: Lightwear, Lightpack and Control. Lightwear – this is actually the glasses themselves augmented reality, Lightpack is a computational unit with a built-in rechargeable battery, which is attached to the belt. Well, Control is a wireless controller for interacting with augmented reality. In early 2018, developers promise to release Magic Leap One (Creator Edition) – a kit for developers, with which you can start creating the first applications for the device. The kit will also include the SDK and all the necessary documentation.

Despite the first demonstration of the device, its specifications remain unknown, and we will not be able to find out them before the developers start sending the first lots of Magic Leap One. At the same time, some conclusions can be drawn now: apparently, Lightwear glasses will be connected to Lightpack via a wire. The glasses will support several input modes: voice, gestures, head position and eye tracking. The device will be able to impose virtual objects on the surrounding world, and their position will remain unchanged when the user moves. As the developers say,

“The device will be able to” hang “a virtual TV on the wall, and when you return later, it will be in the same place where you left it. For the projection of objects, an advanced technology is responsible, allowing the human brain to naturally process digital objects – as well as objects of the real world. “

According to the head of the company Roni Abovitsa, the gadget will be equipped with a separate built-in graphics card, four built-in microphones, six external cameras, and built-in speakers. In this case, the appearance and configuration of the final version can be changed. The consumer version of the device will also be released in 2018.
